Global Rainbow: We Rise in Light
During Winter Pride Saint Pete, February 15–22, the St. Petersburg skyline will be illuminated for three unforgettable nights
by Global Rainbow: We Rise in Light — a breathtaking laser installation designed to project visibility,
resilience, and belonging across our region.
Powerful beams of light will shine from atop the
Mari Jean Hotel on Central Avenue,
visible for up to 60 miles. These lights are not only beautiful — they are intentional.
They are a response to erasure, silence, and fear.
The Artist Behind Global Rainbow
Global Rainbow was created by internationally recognized artist Yvette Mattern,
whose work has illuminated skylines in cities around the world, including New York City, Miami, London,
Provincetown, Las Vegas, and Berlin.
In every city, the installation carries a universal message — visibility matters. Presence matters.
